Professional Learning Opportunities
The implementation of the National Quality Standards is fast approaching, and the GoodStart Training College is offering you the opportunity to learn more about what the standards mean for you as an early learning professional. The College’s Professional Learning Opportunities (PLOs) will run in conjunction with the National Quality Framework Exploration meetings, being coordinated by the National Quality Reform Team. Each PLO will focus on the individual quality standards, beginning with Quality Standard 7: Leadership and Service Management.
What are the Professional Learning Opportunities?
These learning opportunities are not simply more ‘information sessions’. Rather, they are an opportunity for all centre staff to partake in a forum where you can openly discuss your views of the key messages of the standards, and how these may be implemented into the practices of your daily working lives. Best of all, they are offered at no cost to you!
What can I gain?
- You will have the opportunity to develop your own action plan that will support and direct the implementation of the standards.
- In addition, we will support you with the progress of your plan, and help you establish the tools you need to fulfil the requirements of the standards.
- You will have the opportunity to extend your knowledge through the information provided by the GoodStart Training College Trainer, and the experiences and knowledge of your peers.
What do the PLOs involve?
The learning opportunities are composed of three sections:
Pre-reading of information that will be stored on the Staff Learning Program

A three-hour workshop facilitated by the GoodStart Training College
The workshop provides you with the opportunity to explore the key messages of each of the quality standards, and how they impact your work at your centre.

A ‘follow up’ one-hour webinar/teleconference
This professional conversation will be facilitated by the GoodStart Training College, and is a chance to critically discuss your experiences of the implementation of the key areas explored at the workshop.
